APT Funds 2 Interactive Whiteboards!

The APT has graciously agreed to fund the purchase of equipment to create 2 interactive whiteboards at SU! According to wikipedia.com, an interactive whiteboard is a large interactive display that connects to a computer and projector. A projector projects the computer’s desktop onto the board’s surface, where users control the computer using a pen, finger or other device. In the past the cost of these devices has been prohibitive, but no more!    With a Wii remote, free software and an infrared light pen we can use our projector and laptop and turn them into a learning experience that will trick your student into forgetting that they are learning!

This year we hope to spend time introducing this new technology to the staff and looking into creative ways to use it to improve teaching and learning at SU.  Next year we will be ready to roll this technology out to the student population!  Stay tuned!

Many fourth grade students have already enjoyed using the interactive whiteboard in the computer lab while learning about complex machines on the website EdHeads.  Stay tuned as more classes begin to experiment!
