Prescott Parent Organization  (PPO)
March/April 2008

It has been a long winter with many late nights!  Let’s keep the Prescott traditions alive and happening until the end of this school year.

Treasurer’s Report/Enrichment Donations

It is the intention of the PPO to use the remaining funds in the treasury (approximately $2500.00) for enrichment programs for the students at Prescott.  Therefore, we are looking for ideas for programming or fun educational activities that will enhance the educational experience and make the last few months at Prescott memorable for the students.  If anyone has any ideas they would like to share for consideration, please contact any PPO board member.

Senior Grandparent Brunch

This is the most highly anticipated event of the year!  Wednesday, April 9, has been set aside for your child’s chance to share Prescott with grandparents.  This event will be held in the gymnasium.  There will be tables set up for grandparents to sit and enjoy baked goods and coffee while a few different classes come and serenade the grandparents.

Teacher Appreciation Lunch

The first week of May is National Teacher Appreciation Week.  As a huge thank you to the teachers here at Prescott, the PPO will organize a luncheon Tuesday, May 6.  Plans are also being made to celebrate the Prescott teachers every day that week.  Room parents will be asking for your help and giving more information as the date gets closer.

Salute to Colonel William Prescott School

Please come to a community open house in honor of Prescott’s 80th Anniversary on Saturday, May 10, from 3-5pm.  Photographs and memorabilia from the building’s years as Groton High School, Groton Junior High School, and Colonel William Prescott School will be displayed. A video featuring collected interviews with past and present students and staff will be shown.  Refreshments will be served, and a raffle will be held for goody-filled theme baskets.

Save the Date:  Special End of Year Picnic to Honor Ms. Betty Lavin

Reserve Friday afternoon, May 30th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., to honor our Principal, Ms. Betty Lavin, as she will be retiring at the end of the school year.  This will be fun drop in event- bring your children who attend (or attended) Prescott School- and plan to spend time with Ms. Lavin, and have a great time at this school-wide cookout event. Rain date will be Saturday, May 31.
