Grade 8 Trip to Washington DC

Notices have gone home with a reminder for all parents of students who are participating in our trip to Washington D. C. to attend a mandatory meeting on Tuesday, June 3 from 6 to 7pm in the Performing Arts Center. If your child has any prescriptions or has a regular use of over-the-counter medications, please bring these prescriptions to our school nurse in an original container provided by your pharmacy. These should be brought to our nurse on Thursday or Friday, June 5th or 6th. Contact Ms. Stidsen RN, our school nurse, with any questions about medications and the D. C. Trip. Please complete all necessary prescription medication permission forms for this trip. Since our trip takes us away from the regular school environment in a way that is greater than a typical one-day field trip, we do require special permission forms from both parents and physicians for all prescription medications just for this trip.
As you prepare your child for this trip, please follow the guidelines for what they should bring and what they should leave at home. A copy of the guidelines will be sent home with your children along with their hotel room and bus assignments next Thursday, June 5. It is also important to have your child at the school on Monday morning, June 9 at 5:40 AM for timely boarding of the busses. Our departure time is set for 6:00 AM. We will return to the school Thursday June 12 and estimate that we will arrive at 9:30 PM. Please do take time once again to review with your child your expectations for their behavior and participation on this important school trip. Their awareness that all school rules apply at all times during this event will help to guide the high level of decorum that they will need to have a successful experience. You are welcome to contact the Trip Coordinator, Mr. Snodgrass, or the school administration with any questions about the trip.
