Comfort Snowberger is well acquainted with death since her family runs the funeral parlor in their small southern town, but even so the ten-year-old is unprepared for the series of heart-wrenching events that begins on the first day of Easter vacation with the sudden death of her beloved great-uncle Edisto.

Reviews by Groton-Dunstable students:
Comfort Snowberger is the name of the main character in this book. She has some troubles in her life: she has just one friend - Declaration Johnson. No one else wants to be her friend because she lives at a funeral home, and they think that's weird. Comfort seems real. Comfort isn't pretty and perfect like some story book characters are. She's just right. I really enjoyed reading this book.
