Children's Enrichment Program Dear Parents: The Winter Session of GDRSD’s Children’s Enrichment classes for the 2007-2008 school year will be starting in the January 2008. More information will follow soon. Courses are available through the efforts of many parents and community members and, provide an enhancement to our academic curriculum. If you would like to teach a class or have an idea for a class, please feel free to call me at 448-0398. Karen F. Tuomi Director, Community Services
The Swallow Union Enrichment/Challenge Program Committee welcomes volunteer participation from interested community members in planning upcoming courses and programs. We would truly love additional input, as we are seeking to broaden our already diverse offerings. Come try out a meeting to see if you might wish to help. For more information contact Kimberly Flanagan at 978-649-7985. Please make sure that your child is picked up promptly at the end of each class. There will be an additional charge for students who have not been picked up on time. Students will be brought to the Extended Day Programs at either Swallow Union or the Peter Twomey Youth Center. STATMENT OF NON-DISCRIMINATION It is the policy of the Groton-Dunstable Regional School District not to discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, gender, disability, sexual orientation, national origin or homelessness in its educational programs, activities, or employment policies as required by Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments, Chapter 622 of the Acts of 1971, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Also, students will not be excluded for reasons of marriage or pregnancy. Requests for information about these laws and/or grievance procedures should be directed to Dr. Susan Rübel, Director of Curriculum and Staff Development, Groton-Dunstable Regional School District, (978) 448-5505, ext. 213 CLASS COSTS: Unless otherwise noted, all classes are $45 per session. Checks should be made payable to GDRSD. In some cases there are material fees that should be paid directly to the instructor at the first class. Scholarships are available for children with financial need (please contact Karen Tuomi or Peter Myerson). The campus location is identified with each class. Participants will receive confirmation of acceptance along with classroom assignment. The students attending the school site will have first choice for the class; however, if a class remains open, any student can attend. Note: There is at least one bus from all schools that goes to Florence Roche; however, parents much provide transportation if a child chooses a class at one of the other sites. To register for a class, please fill out the registration form, enclose a check made payable to GDRSD and either mail it to: GDRSD Community Ed, P.O. Box 426, Groton, MA 01450 or return to the school office. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Karen Tuomi at 978/448-0398. Please remember to send a note to your child’s teacher informing them each day they will be attending a class. Families who register more than one child may take a 10% sibling discount.
